We, as pet parents, understand that a regular grooming routine plays a very important role in our furry ones' lives. But where to begin? Who do we trust to take over such a critical job of caring for the beloved hairy fuzzball of the family?

Our story begins the day we picked up our newly adopted Pekingese after his first-ever visit to the groomer, an 8-year-old kind and gentle old man with a beautiful underbite who had survived a clandestine puppy mill operation that ran for years in Middle Tennessee.

It was summertime, so we asked (at least who we thought was the expert then) to cut his hair short so he would not get too hot outside. “Sure. You bet.” And off we went, watching him get taken to a loud backroom that made the whole store echo with barks, whines, and cries.

When we finally got the call to pick him up, his hair was not only short as we had requested, but his happy face had apparently been washed off as well. “Maybe he’s tired?”

Several months later, his hair started growing back again. But this time, it was all wiry and spiky, not even close to the silky and smooth strands he showed off and captured our hearts. “Hmm. This is not right”.

We hit the interwebs searching for answers, and sadly, we slowly came to the realization that the pro recommended by so many in our circle (and we researched extensively) was supposed to tell us that our Peke’s coat is a double coat, one that should have never been cut shorter than just a few inches.

That’s the moment the idea of a different kind of grooming salon was born: a quiet, calm and enjoyable environment where we only see happy faces leave our doors, and well-trained, true professionals who are friendly and customer satisfaction-driven can call home.
